Every expecting mama should look as good as they feel, but with so many physical changes going on it can be hard to make your closet adapt with you. Add in most maternity lines and fashion may just take a brief hiatus in your priorities as a seemingly impossibility. But here’s a pro-tip I’ve learned, you don’t have to wear maternity clothes! Here are six simple tips to rock non-maternity clothes while pregnant.
1. Loose Fitting Dresses
My favorite brand while pregnant is Tiare Hawaii. Tight in all the right places and otherwise light and flowing. Despite not being maternity, this brand just fits the pregnancy curves in a flattering way, including your precious baby bump! The best thing about it is that you will continue to be able to wear these dresses post-pregnancy and beyond making them great investment pieces during pregnancy.
2. Embrace Your Feminine Side
There is something about pregnancy that makes you feel ultra empowered by femininity and everything our bodies are capable of, which is why I love wearing Storia. The dresses are fun and flirty with adorable feminine details.
For a more festive look, the sparkled Storia dress brings a whole new vibe full of pizazz. The loose and flattering fit allows the dress to be worn easily through the second trimester.
3. Let The Maxi Dresses Flow
The problem with short dresses is as your bump grows, the dresses get shorter and shorter. So to get the most wear, lean toward maxi dresses because they will grow right along with you.
4. The Right Shoes
As a mother, I’ve become very into sneakers, in part because I have a 3 year old and need to be able to run at a moment’s notice. My favorite pairings with dresses are Giuseppe Zanotti sparkle sneakers or Ash white platform sneakers. If I want to dress up my look, I pair dresses with western style booties by Lucchesse.
5. Add A Jacket
Everything always looks more pulled together with a jacket. But it’s not just fashion, it can also keep you warm in restaurants or wherever your journeying takes you. This STS Blue denim jacket is so soft you can wear it as soon as you buy it, without having to worry about softening it by washing it, because there is nothing worse than stiff denim.
From your favorite hoops and bracelets, to hair accessories (I am a bit headband obsessed), finish your outfit with all your favorites.
Make the most of this precious time by purchasing items that make your maternity style a reflection of you. As an added bonus purchasing non-maternity clothes will mean you make the most of your investments because you can wear these styles again post-pregnancy. So you can dress to impress while expecting! Congrats mama!
