We are so excited to launch a new content series on Daytona Beach Mom called “Mom of the Moment.” “Mom of the Moment” is a monthly feature on the women who inspire us in their careers, confidence, and of course, style. We will be diving into a different closet and home quarterly and to kick it off, we are starting with Nada Manley! Let’s dive in and meet Nada.
Meet Beauty Mommy
Stylist Nada Manley is the owner and creator of the Beauty Mommy and Style Confidence Club. Through her personal styling services, Nada coaches clients from all over the world to find authentic style, radiant beauty, and the confidence that comes from feeling truly comfortable in their style, beauty, and skin.
We caught up with Nada at “Castillo Tropical,” the Spanish revival style home she shares with her husband Kevin, and her two daughters Lola, 13, and Eva, 11, and talked all things Beauty Mommy at one of the original Estate homes in Daytona Beach.
How did you come up with the name Beauty Mommy?
In 2006, right around the time I had my first daughter, my agent suggested starting a blog, and with my background as a beauty editor/author, I decided to start a beauty-focused blog without really knowing what a blog was… The name BeautyMommy combined my two loves.
What items are you loving for under $200?
People are always afraid that, as a personal stylist, I only like fancy brands and stores, but I shop everywhere and anywhere. I have found favorite pieces at Target and H&M, as well as boutiques and department stores. I think if you have a strong sense of what you love, and good taste, you can choose well and pick up cute pieces regardless of your budget.
Sam Edelman always has cool, trendy shoes. They’re affordable and comfortable. The Raelle pointy-toe booties in python and the snake-embossed teal are both amazing.
I also love the suede moto jacket from Blank NYC. Lots of great colors and such a great outfit-maker.
And I am obsessed with the Avec Les Filles faux fur coat with stars. It’s such a statement piece. (See similar one here).
What will be your it accessory for the season?
It’s always about the shoes for me. Right now I’m loving my Stuart Weitzman Stanton pumps. They are so chic and go with everything. I am also excited to finally wear black over the knee boots this fall. I think I finally found a pair that works for me. Oh, and my new Zara black mules. They’re so cool and comfortable and I think I’ll live in them this season.
What’s the one item that you don’t leave your house without?
A bold lipstick, usually red or wine, and sometimes a bold pink. Right now my favorite shade is one that was developed by a friend, and she let me name it: Heartbreak Hotel. It’s the perfect red and it stays on all day. I keep one in my purse and one at home and a couple of back-ups, that’s how obsessed I am.
Your go-to layering piece:
I love layering because I’m always cold indoors. My black moto jacket is a current favorite and I got it at TJ Maxx for $19. It fits perfectly and is so cute. I also love my Michael Stars olive utility jacket and a Tahari knit blazer that I just picked up at Marshall’s. It looks polished but feels like a sweatshirt. I’d like to buy a duster for fall to take the place of my summery kimonos.
Your go-to mom bag:
My Prada black patent Gauffre tote. That bag has endured so much, from crushed Goldfish to leaky sippy cups, and it looks brand new after years of abuse. It was the best investment ever.
Also pulled out my red epileather Louis Vuitton bag again and remembered how much I love it.
Favorite shoe designer:
I really like statement shoes that are feminine but a little bit offbeat. Boden, J. Crew, and Katy Perry all make cute, affordable styles. Fancy brands that are favorites are Marc Jacobs, Moschino, Miu Miu, Charlotte Olympia, and Sophia Webster.
Advice you would tell your 25-year-old self:
Enjoy all the things that come easily with youth, like great skin and fast metabolism. And stop wasting time. There’s not as much of it as you think.
I know we will take some mini trips in the winter and spring, but our next big trip is a weeklong stay in a castle in Scotland with my parents, siblings, and their kids. 16 of us. We can’t wait. We are going to try to make it to London, too.
My mom. I’m seriously blessed.
The last book you couldn’t put down:
Sister by Rosamund Lupton. My sister recommended it and I couldn’t put it down, even though I’m more of a classics kind of girl.
Tell us what you’ve learned about being a home school mom:
That each child is so unique, and that my job as a mom is to help them recognize their strengths and cheer them on. They amaze me every day.
I love Podcasts. I listen to a lot of business ones. I’m inspired by Rachel Hollis, Chalene Johnson and Sara Anna Powers.
